Stupider than Stupid
Ok so I have two days [one and a half now] left at work so I shouldnt really care about this....but its just sooooooooo stupid I cant help but be affected....
Yesterday, I come back into the office after my lunch break, and as Im going through my programs to open up Microsoft Word, I notice something odd. My programs are usually in a specific order and they have been completely rearranged. I finally notice what it is, its my MSN! Its not there! I sit there for a little bit, confused, knowing that it must have been my boss, but completely in denial, till i see a lil envelope on my taskbar indicating a new email...I open up my outlook and this is what I find:
You will notice that all chatting programs have been removed from company computers. That is because your jobs do not entail or require chatting of any kind.
Please note that even if you were chatting during lunch break or after working hours this is no longer allowed at *********** Co.
And should you like to chat online please do so at home. Kindly do not re-install any chatting programs on your machines.
Dont get me wrong, I have absolutely no objection with them removing msn or disallowing it, i mean its their right, my problem is the fact that they did in this sneaky way while we were all on our lunch breaks....I dont know, it feels wrong...Especially since in this company, we have(or had!) a friendly family-like atmosphere...
Would it have killed them to ask us to remove it and do a check of it later on? While we were actually AT our computers.. It kills any sense of trust...
OK now here comes the REALLY stupid part...my boss, when she removed MSN, she deleted the shortcut. She didnt even uninstall it or anything...Im sorry but that is asking for it! I go into the C drive and check under program files and its there! Fuck how stupid is that! If you're going to try and be all smart and powerful and all, it totally defeats the purpose when by doing so, you show the world how completely inadequate you are...Plus there's still windows messenger, and although it makes me feel like im stuck in 1997 it does the job...
I am so glad to be out of here....

theyre too dumb to even think of blogging...They probably dont know what it means...but yeah imagine..
You can always use web-messenger, so it's still stupid of them.
It's like blocking websites and people resort to proxies.
censorship = stupidity
so you have been working there for how long now and you find this surprising? if you want i can send you an email of a pdf file they sent out to everyone which had a fashion to do and not to do list. in it they had like a color chart showing what color tops you can and cant wear and what color bottoms you can and cant wear. really silly stuff and the problem is you would think with such a high turnover rate they would notice something is wrong and try to fix it but instead they dont even admit there is a problem.
You know what mark you are so right, i dont know why i was surprised
And that IS what I keep thinking; dont they ever think that the problem is THEM and thats why people keep leaving? sometimes i really wonder..
But that clothes thing is insane though...i mean what is it even based on! Their own personal preference??!!
Well it's to do with employees wasting company time, quite simple. Would you pay someone to be chatting all day at work, and sure there might be some responsible employees but do you think that a company has the time to try to sort everyone out. The removal might have been initatied remotely , in that case lunch time would be perfect as there would be less resources being consumed by the computer and therefore less chances of something crashing. On the other hand can you imagine uninstalling the software manually and having to explain to each and every employee why it was being done! and then having to listen to the bitching and moaning!.-
hahahaha... If they are that stupid, why the hell are you wasting your time working for them !!!!
i know what you mean about the 1997 Messenger...loool... we're not allowed to download ANY messengers at my work, so i have to do with that.... better than nothing i guess!
bss you are right about doing it the sneaky way... they shouldve just told everyone to remove it and checked on it later...
